Lights Out
The phone rang “Hello”, I said. No one was there. All the lights went out. “What in the world…”I glanced around. The only thing I could see as my eyes were adjusting to the darkness were the flickers of lights coming from the streetlights downstairs. As I fumbled around the drawers for a torch, a crash sounded from behind me. I whirled toward the noise, flicking on the torch. There was nothing there. Somehow, that was even worse than if there was some ghost standing behind me with an evil grin. Just as I had that thought, three almighty crashes came from above. “Calm down!” I barked at myself, ignoring my pounding heart. Then out of nowhere, a hole appeared on the ceiling, and someone came down into my house through it. I screamed, grabbing a butter knife from the kitchen cupboard. “Ow! My EARS!” Whoever it was said, clapping their hands over their ears. With trembling hands, I pointed my flashlight towards the shape It was, in fact, my friend. “Ow! My EYES!” she yelped and covered her eyes. “You owe me my ears AND my eyes! I’m probably deaf AND blind because of your torch and you’re shrieking.” She scowled at me. “Yeah, well, you deserve it for breaking my roof and playing that prank on me! That was NOT FUNNY. You scared the living daylights out of me!” I accused her. “I am REALLY MAD AT YOU.”
I genuinely was, but mostly I was just glad that nothing scarier had happened that night.
Teacher comment:
It was tense at the beginning but luckily, it turned out to be a prank by your friend only. Hopefully, it won’t happen again or become a tragedy!
