My Goal This Year
When I imagine myself at the end of my school year, I see a girl who doesn’t give up and faces challenges by herself. Last year, when I faced something difficult, I would ask my mother to help me. Also, sometimes when I had a difficult situation, I wanted to give up. My mother would encourage me, and then I felt motivated not to quit what I was doing. However, I want to keep trying this year if I have a challenge. For example, if I have a difficult Math problem, I will try to read the question again and solve the problem on my own. This year I hope to be determined and independent in everything I do.
Another goal of mine is to improve my fencing skills to be a future Olympian. I started fencing when I was 9 years old, and my skills have improved a lot. Now I have to practice and improve my strength in my hands and feet and get better with my skills and techniques. This summer, I met Vivian Kong. She won the Gold Medal in the Paris Olympics. My coach was her coach when she was younger, and she was at my age when she began fencing. Seeing her winning the Gold Metal helped me see my “future me”. I realized if I tried hard and focused on my goal, I could win the Gold Metal too. So this year, I will train harder to reach my goal.
